RECYCLING, CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND CYCLE OF WOOD

01/07/2021

The safeguard of the planet where we live pass also through the recycling. The effort required to everyone is to properly separate the garbage in order to send it to the specific installations which divide and recycle all the waste turning them into “End of Waste”.

Thanks to the Decreto Ronchi  in 1997 the Italian people became aware that waste shouldn’t have to be considered a problem anymore, but a resource to recycle and enhance. Nowadays on the basis of this order a new organism is born: the CONAI: Consorzio Nazionale Imballaggi. The companies joining CONAI finance it with a mandatory contribution which allows it to support the packaging recycling activities. CONAI directs the activity of the Consorzi di filiera ( Consortium ) recovering packaging materials:  Comieco, plastics - Corepla, glass - Coreve, aluminium - Cial, steel - Ricrea and wood - Ri-legno.

With this order, its measures and the occurring laws, a new concept has born: the circular economy, therefore a packaging which is used to contain a product is discarded, recycled and converted to become a new raw material. The material life circle doesn’t end after their first use, but it is infinite.

Wood is the engine of human evolution, it has been the first material ever used by humans for their activities: fire discovery, stilt houses, the first ships and hunt tools. Wood has never been considered a waste, but a healthy material to exploit because it is easily available: it is cheap, light, biodegradable and renewable. The wood used by Imballaggi Dell’Oca is 100% recyclable because it is natural and is part of the Consorzio Ri-legno.

The production of Wood in Packaging Dell’Oca is by poplar cultivation: from the collected poplar the wood is semi-milled by local businesses that turn it into poplar leaf, which we Dell’Oca, in our turn, convert into our packaging. The final consumer correctly discards our packaging that enter the Ri-legno chain: the recycling platforms reduce in little splinters the wasted material, which becomes a new raw material entering in the industrial circuit. 95% of wood collected by Ri-legno has a new life after use.
